Indonesia - Heaven in Asia



Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country after China, India, and the United States. In Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital and largest city, more than half people live on.

Indonesia, proclamating its independence since August 17th 1945 is the most important archipelago in South Eastern Asia.

Indonesia is located between two continents and two oceans: Asia continent and Australia continent, and between Indonesia ocean and Pacific Ocean.

This Indonesia's coordination is strategically important from economic, political, and military point of view.

Its width is as wide as from eastern coast to western coast in United States or from London in England to Istanbul in Turkey.

Indonesia’s soil is rich with mines and fertile. Its sea is rich with nautical resources and fish.

Irian Jaya or Papua, is the second biggest island on earth.

Indonesia's cordinate is located on equator, so nicknamed as Zamrud Khatulistiwa. Its natural beauty makes Indonesia nicknamed as Paradise Islands.

Indonesia is named as The Treasure of Asia in the World War II.

G.R. Logan in 1850 an English Ethnolog is the first one who introduced Indonesia name w hen he wrote a book about the nation which lived in spice-producing island. He combined the word Indo which interpretated by several western people as spice-producing region, and the word Nesos, which mean island. And the name Indonesia was born as the result of those two words combined.

Nusantara is the other name for Indonesia. The high officers from the Kingdom of Singasari was the first introduced Nusantara name that means regions and islands outside of Java. Now it has been transferred its meaning into Indonesia entirely by geographically, culturally, politically, and economically. But Malaysian and Brunei Darussalam define Nusantara as a massive region on Southeast Asia, including Malaysia and Brunei.

Population in Indonesia in 1988 is more than 175 millions people. It is the fourth biggest on the world, after China, India, and United States. The population scattered in 6.850 from 13.700 islands, from We island on the northern corner, until Irian on the eastern Indonesia. But they aren’t distributed evenly.
Many islands are rarely populated, even some are empty, while Java, Madura, and Bali are most densely populated.

Three fifth of the population live in Java, even its width is only 7 percents from total width of Indonesia’s region.
